My name is Greis.   
Many times I have watched the men drag the lake. They arrive early in the morning, on trucks with dragging tires, wearily casting their lights over the water. Depending upon the time of year, it may be too dark still to sense the lay of the ground, the depth of the water; this time, June time, they’ve caught the sun just as it is swaying in. The motorboats are turned rear-first and presented to the water.

 The network dropped on me today, right in the middle of a VoIP consultation; I took that as a sign that I was due for a short vacation. I hated to leave the student hanging, but he'll understand. I think it was getting late in Hong Kong anyway. He sounded half-asleep. I sometimes forget what my own timezone is, too. I had to dig out my dad's watch to figure out the time here, with the wall clock shut down. And here I am blogging in the command interface.

A Mother's LoveSally Baker considered herself a good mother. She grew her own baby and gave birth to a daughter, Jane, by natural means, barring the odd shot of hormones to hold off genetic defects. She refused sensory enhancements despite the doctor's advice. Sally produced  one of the last NL (Non-Lab) babies in the state.  
 
The very next year body-bound birth was declared illegal, on grounds of threatening the mother's health—especially singles. Jane arrived not long after the father crawled off, having lost the argument with Sally over population control. OxfordThis city stopped making sense the day Strunk stepped out. And by stepping out, I mean the man strolled out to take the air at forty stories up--and just the air. Must've gotten a screaming lungful before he hit the sidewalk. The papers say the man jumped, but they’ve got fat pockets these days just like the police. To Whom It May Concern:


Thank you for the little print of Geisha. I have it right here on my desk at work; it makes me happy.

I'll come up with a more substantial update... sometime. Right now I'm just too busy between work and classes. I am projecting that I'll really make a return sometime in late May or early June, once my coursework lightens up and graduation rears.
